Welcoming Our New Committee: Secretary with Equipment Officer & Course Co-ordinator

Next up to introduce herself, and say a little about her lifesaving experience, is Imogen Jameson! As our new Secretary, Equipment Officer AND Course Co-ordinator, she's got one hell of a hefty job this year!

"Hello! My name is Imogen, I am currently completing my Masters in Chemistry course here at Sheffield and I have taken on the roles of Secretary, Kit Officer and Course Coordinator in the University of Sheffield’s lifesaving team this academic year!

Lifesaving has been part of my life since I joined Wells lifesaving club at the age of 10. At first, I joined because my sisters were training to be lifeguards, but over time I made more and more friends through the club that it became more than just a hobby. While I have never been the sportiest of people, I loved competing at the annual regional and national competitions for my local club.

The hobby really progressed when I started university at Sheffield where I joined University Lifesaving team, and found myself competing in BULSCA competitions much more regularly as well taking on the role of Secretary in my second year. I have also taken part in international events with lifesaving; in 2013, I went to Germany with my local club as part of an Urban search and rescue event and in 2015 I found myself at a similar event in Russia as a representative of the RLSS.

I’m really looking forward to another year of lifesaving at Sheffield, and hope to make sure the team looks great at all the upcoming competitions and get as many people as possible with a survive and save badge! (and get my rope out)."
