April Round Up!

Lifesaving Club AGM

Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM at the beginning of April. It was lovely to look back on the club and the committee's achievements this year and we are so proud of how much we have developed. The 18/19 committee have put so much hard work into running the club - well done to King Yee, Ellie, Peter, Megan, Helena and Jonathan!

Congratulations to those elected onto the new 19/20 committee! We know you'll have an amazing time and will continue doing a great job. Returning to committee next year will be Peter, Helena and King Yee. They will be welcoming Daniel, Frederick, Katie and Luciana! Good luck guys.

The handovers will take place over the next few weeks. If you would like to read what happened at our AGM - from the changes in our constitution, to the officer reports - the minutes will be uploaded to this website shortly!

First Aid at Work Qualification

During the first weekend of April, we ran our second First Aid at Work course which saw 6 lifesavers and 2 archers become qualified first aiders! This is an extremely useful course, required by all UK workplaces. We learnt many new skills that we wouldn't have otherwise covered under the RLSS Survive & Save syllabus.

A massive thank you to Paul Moore who travelled all the way from Nottingham to teach and assess us. Well done to Peter, Helena, Megan, Katie, Rosy, Oliver, Suna and King Yee for passing the course!

End of the 2018-19 BULSCA League

Last weekend we took two teams with us to the league finale: Loughborough Comp! All 8 of us performed exceedingly well individually and in teams. We have plenty of room for improvement moving into next season and we're so excited to continue improving! Overall, we placed 6th in the A league and a close 5th in the B league. Congratulations to everyone who has taken part this year!

2019-20 BULSCA Committee

On the morning of Loughborough Comp, we attended the BULSCA AGM where the new league calendar was confirmed, proposals accepted/rejected, and a new BULSCA committee elected! We are extremely pleased that a quarter of the 2019-20 committee consists of Sheffield alumni!

Congratulations to Michael on his re-election as Secretary and to King Yee for being elected as Communications Secretary (the only contested position!).

(Save the date: Sat 9th Nov 2019, Sheffield Competition!)

2019-20 BULSCA Awards

We did it! We've worked so hard this year as a club. We won BULSCA Club of the Year for the second year running! We are all extremely delighted and we're so glad that the hard work, from organising the 24-hour CPR marathon to competing at National Speeds, has paid off. Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year. We can't wait for Sports Awards in May for more potential awards!

Keep your eyes peeled for the May/June round-ups! We will have more to update you on - from Sports Awards to Performance Sport status. Until then, please enjoy our new official club photos!

Lifesaving Love x
