National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and Training Hours

After a tremendous amount of interest at the Sports Fair last month, the University of Sheffield Lifesaving Club have organised an RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification just for you!

Course:

Normally, the NPLQ qualification is gained after a week-long intensive course, which is very inconvenient for us students, because we cannot juggle this around our academic studies.

However, with thanks to our fabulous new course coordinator, Imogen, we have negotiated with King Edwards Swimming Pool and organised a reduced-cost flexible NPLQ! The course will take place over several Sundays and Wednesday afternoons at King Edwards Swimming Pool (near Endcliffe Village) and will finish before Christmas, before exam stress truly kicks in! This will give you the chance to get a lifeguarding job over the holidays, or for next semester.

Dates:

Sundays: 12th Nov, 19th Nov, 26th Nov, 3rd Dec. (5 hour sessions, exact timings tbc.) Wednesdays: 15th Nov, 22nd Nov, 29th Nov, 6th Dec. (4 hour sessions, 6pm-10pm) Exam dates tbc - either 10th or 13th December.

Cost:

The course costs £220 (this sounds like a lot but usually it costs around £250!), and is recognised at all swimming pools across the UK. It looks great on your CV and allows you to get a well paid job once qualified. You will be able to make this £220 back in no time!

No membership is required!

You will have to pay King Edwards the full price prior to the start of the course so they can order the course materials.

Training hours:

For those of you who are already qualified lifeguards looking to keep up your NPLQ training whilst at university, we have also negotiated with Sport Sheffield to offer you HALF PRICE training hours!

They usually charge £20 for a 3 hour training session, but just for you, they have reduced this to only £10 per session! This will take place at Goodwin Sports Centre. This is great value for money (better to do this than let your NPLQ expire!)

If you are not already a member of our club, all you will need is our NPLQ membership, which is a one off cost of £25 for the whole year.

I must express that both of these opportunities are really good value for money, and you will definitely be able to make the costs back very quickly.

Drop us a message if you're interested or if you have any questions! Please tell any friends and family who may be interested too, as we need a minimum number of people in order to run the course.

Lifesaving Love xx
