Next up, our new Speeds Training Officer and Equipment Officer, Megan Valk would like to introduce herself.
"Hi, I’m Megan, a third year biology student.
I started lifesaving this time last year, not knowing what the sport was and what to expect. I was pleased to find out the club was a group of friendly, fun and supportive people. Lifesaving gave me the opportunity to take part in a sport that maintained my swimming fitness while also teaching me first aid. All of last year I enjoyed representing the university in competitions against other universities as part of a team of four. Lifesaving has provided me with vital skills that could come in useful one day and help me save a life, l was also able to become a qualified lifeguard through a course the club arranged.
I'm looking forward to watching the club develop this year as Speeds Training Officer by improving our club's performance in competitions through training and I want to be as inclusive as possible to current and new members. As Equipment Officer too, I aim to keep our kit in top condition to facilitate our training. I hope to see many familiar and new faces back in the pool in September for an exciting year ahead!"
