Meet Our New Committee: Competition Secretary

Our penultimate committee member, Helena Darke, and this year's Competition Secretary is next up to introduce herself!

"Hi, I’m Helena and I’m in my final year studying Education, Culture and Childhood Studies.

I have always enjoyed water sports; before university I swam competitively and also taught snorkelling, but when I came to Sheffield as a fresher I wanted to try something different. Halfway through my degree I found lifesaving through a Give It a Go event. I love that the sport uses and teaches genuinely useful and important skills and that everyone in the club is so friendly!

As Competition Secretary this year my main aim is to get as many people as possible to take part in at least one competition. I also want to stay organised to make sure that everyone knows when competitions are, and to try to keep travel costs down to make competing open to everyone."
